“I found out about the flag,” said Young. “Like either of us really care… –.”

An internal email sent to Texas A&M University Chancellor John Sharp by Texas A&M University President Michael Young reveals top A&M officials’ shocking disrespect for the symbol that thousands of Aggies fought and died for.

In the email, most likely regarding the American Flags flown in front of the Administration Building and on Military Walk at the Texas A&M University campus, President Young reports to Sharp about the flag being left up at night.

Young initially claims that they “don’t leave it out at night.” He then backtracks, first blaming the Corps of Cadets and then Sharp’s privatized facilities contractors for leaving the flag up at night.

Support Aggies obtained all emails between Young and Sharp for 4 months after the flag email and did not find any response from Chancellor Sharp denying Young’s assertion that he didn’t care about the flag.

The email is as follows:

I found out about the flag ‐‐ like either of us really care… ‐‐. We don’t leave it out at night and, if we ever do, we light it. As it turns out, however, the Corps usually takes care of it and they are in finals and now on vacation. So our grounds crew have been taking care of it and they are perhaps slightly less reliable….

But we’ll watch it from now on….

And I am sure this message just lights up your Christmas…..

And we are in the middle of a great snow storm. There will be sledding with the [redacted]!
